During parasitic studies on the migratory birds in Sindh, Pakistan, a total of seven Common Pochards, Aythya ferina (L. 1758) were captured from Hamal Lake, District Kambar Shahdad Kot, Sindh, Pakistan. During examination of gut contents, 12 trematodes belonging to genus Paramonostomum Lühe, 1909 were recovered from 5 birds; identified and compared with their closest allies and differentiated on the basis of the body shape and size, position of genital pore, extension of vitellaria, number of uterine loops, shape and position of testes and ovary, post testicular area and size of the egg. On the basis of these diagnostic differences, a new species Paramonostomum aythyae has been proposed.
