abstract
Six mid late maturing varieties/Germplasms of sugarcane viz., CoP 08437, CoP 9301, CoSe 08452, BO 91, CoSe 08451 and CoSe 92423 were tested against early shoot borer, root borer, top borer, plassey borer and pink borer at Pusa Farm, Rajendra Agricultural University, Pusa, Bihar during 2012-13 and 2013-14. Randomized block design with four replications were followed. The experimental result showed that the infestation of early shoot borer in the variety CoSe 92423 (8.30%) showed significantly less infestation than the check (09.83%). Infestation of root borer in varieties CoP 9301 (3.10%) and CoSe 92423 (3.56%) were found at par with the check (2.15%). The top borer infestation was significantly less in the variety CoSe 92423 (10.35%) but significantly high infestation was observed in the germplasms: CoSe 08452 (23.76%), CoSe 08451 (22.05%), CoP 08437 (19.86%). The Plassey borer infestation in varieties, CoSe 92423 and CoP 9301 and pink borer infestation in variety CoSe 92423 and in germplasms CoSe 08452 and CoSe 08451was recorded in the range 0.03 to 0.89 per cent.
