A study was conducted to analyse the haemato-biochemical profile of Babesia gibsoni infected dogs, presented to Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Veterinary Hospitals, Mannuthy and Kokkalai, Thrissur district during the period of March to September 2018. Fifteen dogs belonging to different breeds and age groups of either sex suspected for Babesia gibsoni infection were subjected to the study. Eight apparently healthy dogs without infection were taken as control. Blood samples for haematological and serum biochemical evaluations were collected in vials coated with EDTA and clot activator respectively. Peripheral blood smears were subjected to Giemsa staining which confirmed the presence of organisms. Haematological parameters such as haemoglobin concentration, erythrocyte count, packed cell volume, mean corpuscular volume and platelet count were analysed using fully automatic haematological analyser. Serum biochemistry profiles such as total protein, alanine amino transferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatise (ALP), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine of the presented dogs were also analysed using semi-automatic biochemical analyser. Statistical evaluation revealed that there is significant difference in observed values of rectal temperature, haemoglobin concentration, erythrocyte count, packed cell volume, platelet count, albumin concentration and alkaline phosphatase concentration of the infected dogs compared to control.
