A field experiment was conducted to determine the comparative efficacy of some newer insecticides with some conventional insecticides against in rice during kharif 2016 and kharif 2017. The treatments were: T1- Tolfenpyrad 15% + bifenthrin 7.5% SE @ 500 ml/ha; T2- Tolfenpyrad 15% + bifenthrin 7.5% SE @ 625 ml/ha; T3- Tolfenpyrad 15% + bifenthrin 7.5% SE @ 750 ml/ha; T4- Tolfenpyrad 15 % EC @ 1000 ml/ha; T5- Chlorantraniliprole 18.5% SC @ 150 ml/ha; T6- Bifenthrin 10%EC @ 500 ml/ha; T7- Untreated check. All the tested chemicals are effective for different pests in rice, but among the tested insecticide molecules tolfenpyrad 15% + bifenthrin 7.5% SE @ 750 ml/ha, tolfenpyrad 15% + bifenthrin 7.5% SE @ 625 ml/ha, tolfenpyrad 15%EC @ 1000 ml/ha and chlorantraniliprole 18.5%SC @ 150ml/ha can be used for the effective management of brown plant hopper. In treatment T5-Chlorantraniliprole 18.5%SC @ 150ml/ha showed highest reduction in the percent of dead heart and white ear head damage was significantly reduced by 0.72 per cent in treatment T3-Tolfenpyrad 15% + bifenthrin 7.5% SE @ 750 ml/ha. The lowest per cent leaf folder damage recorded in treatment T3-Tolfenpyrad 15% + bifenthrin 7.5% SE @ 750 ml/ha.
