The present investigation deals to evaluate the effect of sweet flag, Acorus calamus L.a tall perennial wetland monocot plant fromthe Acoraceae family against sucking insect pests of brinjal in agricultural college and research institute, killikulam during the year of 2014-2015. Aqueous rhizome extract recorded the lowest mean population of aphids (9.28) in brinjal followed by rhizome powder (14.14). Aqueous rhizome extract 1% recorded a mean population of 70.29 percent reduction over control on leaf hopper. However the chemical check chlorpyriphos performed far better with fruit damage (1.78%) than the A. calamus products.
