A field experiments on chilli were conducted to test the bioefficacy of new formulation along with other insecticides against aphids in chilli at Narasipuram and Mathampati villages of Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu, India during 2013-2014. Three foliar applications were carried out at an interval of seven days after the pest population reached the economic threshold levels. The results revealed that fipronil 200 SC at 40 and 50 g a.i. ha-1 were highly effective in checking the mean population of aphid, Myzus persicae (11.59/five leaves) and was on par with standard check, imidacloprid 200 SL at 50 g a.i. ha-1. Hence, it can be concluded that the treatment T3 in comparison with T2 and T6 proved to be an effective IPM strategy as it effectively suppressed the aphid population for sustainable production of chilli.
