Watershed (Krishi Honda-farm pond) programs in Kolar District-Karnataka for sustainable development of groundwater ecosystem
Krishnappa S
Kolar is predominantly an agrarian District in Karnataka State. Only the monsoon affects the entire Kolar District area's ability to cultivate land. People often turn to indiscriminately drilling borewells since even the meagre water from the unpredictable rainfall just washes away, which causes the groundwater table to gradually disappear. The groundwater table will be replenished and the biodiversity of the area, including people and animals during drought times, will be able to acquire enough water if rainwater is stopped from draining away and stored appropriately. In this view watershed (Krishi Honda-farm pond) programs in Kolar District-Karnataka have a major role in conservation of water preventing it from draining away, recharges groundwater and developed sustainable groundwater ecosystem in the District up to the certain extent.
