Seasonal incidence of Helicoverpa Armigera on chickpea crop in Eastern region of Uttar Pradesh

Helicoverpa armigera is a polyphagous insect pest commonly known as gram pod borer. Present experiments was conducted at the Agriculture Farm, Department of Entomology, Tilak Dhari Post Graduate College, Jaunpur during Rabi 2010-11 and 2011-12. The observation were recorded both year randomly selected plants at weekly interval from vegetative to maturity stage. The highest mean larval populations 5.60 per square meter in the first year were observed during the 48th standard week and in the second year it is 6.2 per square meter were observed during the 11th standard weeks. However, lowest mean larval population 0.40 per square meter in the first year were observed during the 14th standard week and in second year it is 0.90 per square meter were observed during the 1st standard week.
