Population dynamics and emergence pattern of apple root borer, Dorysthenes hugelii (Redt.) adults in Kullu valley

Joginder Singh

A study was carried out to ascertain the time of root borer adult emergence and the relationship with the prevailing meteorological factors. The results showed that adult activity coincided with the onset of monsoon rains and peak period of their emergence was observed during second week of July. Maximum trapping of adults was found during third to fourth weeks of July and therefore, it was the appropriate time for killing of adults or applying insecticides for the management of target pest in the valley.
