Diversity and abundance of darkling beetles (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) in Wazirpur tehsil, Sawai Madhopur District of Rajasthan, India

Rajmohan Meena

An extensive survey of darkling beetles was conducted in the Wazirpur tehsil of Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, from January 2019 to December 2020. A total of 12 species, representing 12 genera, were recorded across four subfamilies of the Tenebrionidae family: Pimeliinae (5 species), Tenebrioninae (5 species), Lagriinae (1 species), and Diaperinae (1 species). Species richness and abundance peaked during the monsoon season, with approximately 85% of the total species collected between June and October. In contrast, both species richness and abundance were lowest during the winter months.
