South Karnataka has been marked by its unique species richness and diversity. Distribution and diversity of Odonata in this region can be well studied. However, no concrete study has been done in Mysore district of Karnataka. The study was conducted at Lingambudhi lake Mysore, JSS college Campus BN road Mysore, Kalidasa hostel ground, Mananthawadi road, Mysore. Sampling of Odonates was carried out in selected areas. Random sampling was carried out by direct searching method. Identification of Odonates was carried out with the help of Odonates identification guide. the present study was carried out during the period from January 2020 to March 2020, The study showed that 36 individuals were observed. They belong to two sub orders (Anisoptera with one Family- Libellilidae, consisting 9 genera includes 10 species) and (Zygoptera with one Family- Coenagrionidae, consisting 2 Genera with 4 species). Among the Genera Ceriagrion and Ischnura both are similarly diversed (2 species each). The present study reveals that preliminary information of diversity of various species of dragonflies and damselflies
